COLONIAL URBANISM
Resume: The project sought to contribute to the study of the conceptual and methodological evolution of realized plans and to the knowledge of the influences established between Portugal and colonies.
The project starts with the plan types identification and inventory drawn from the overseas territory, the recognition of authors, the system / legal framework and the conceptual and theoretical influences that led to the urban composition.
It was intended to show a period and a territory over which the references and the konwledge is still very scarce, and which gradually fades over time, making difficult to collect material and possibly to find 'personal' witnesses that could still be collected. From the research universe about 150 Plans were inventoried, having been made in parallel, interviews with some of the authors of these plans.
One of its main goals was the creation of a digital database built from the Plans inventory, the authors and the documentary sources, organized into records - a cataloging and exploration synthesis.
