YOURI SPANINKS-AMARO

Youri Spaninks-Amaro (Utrecht, 1992) Architect, completed his master’s in architecture at the Lisbon School of Architecture (FA- ULisboa) in 2018.
In 2016 worked at MDBA in Barcelona, as an intern, and from 2019 to 2021 worked as an independent architect with João Nuno Laranjo Arquitectos (Lisbon) and Sachin Agshikar (Mumbai) on the development of several projects, particularly on the field of healthcare architecture. He participated in several architecture competitions wining two Honourable Mention prizes for the Museum of Automobile and Rally of Portugal (2017) and the ARKXSITE Architecture Competition “Site Chapel” (2019), respectively. In 2021 founded 19X STUDIO, a collaborative practice of architecture and urbanism, where he is currently partner architect.

Since 2020 he develops his doctoral thesis research entitled “A espessura do limiar: Forma e Tipo dos espaços de transição na cidade de Lisboa”, at the Lisbon School of Architecture, University of Lisbon. He is a member of formaurbis LAB and Centro de Investigação em Arquitetura, Urbanismo e Design (CIAUD) since 2022, where he develops parallel research on academic projects. Within the scope of the research group formaurbis LAB and CIAUD he often participates in international conferences and seminars, publishing articles about the topic of urban morphology.
